Time management and housekeeping: Do they really go together? They can if you set goals and take it one step at a time.

First, you want to identify what you want. What is your Clean IQ? Are you a neatnik or more relaxed? This is your decision based on your own priorities.

Now that you know what level of clean you want, you will set some goals to reach that level. Go through your house, room by room, and decide what needs to be done to bring it up to your expectations.

Perhaps your first priority will be to organize the room. Based on that decision, write down everything that must be done to accomplish it. Don’t worry about cleaning it right now. You’ll worry about that aspect of the project later.

And speaking of projects, I would treat each room, or part of a room, as a project. Break each room/project down into doable tasks. Go through all of the rooms and areas of your home at once.

After you’ve gone through all of your rooms and written down everything , write down everything else that you know needs to be done, such as picking up your dry cleaning, having your car serviced or writing a letter to your friend. Write it all down and get it out of your head. This is what I call a brain dump!

You are going to have one heck of a list! But, remember, you are going to take each item as a baby step.

Your next step is to set up a schedule to work on your projects. Be reasonable in setting up the time you have available. You’re not going to get it all done in one day. After all, it didn’t get unorganized in one fell swoop!

All done? Good! Your next step is to look at all of your rooms and decide which is most important to YOU to get clean and organized first. I always like to start with the laundry area because when you start going through your other rooms, you’ll nearly always have some laundry. If your laundry room is already clean and organized, it makes doing all of that other laundry much easier.

Now, get yourself four boxes and label them STAY, MISPLACED, GIVE AWAY and TRASH. Go through your rooms: rrom by room, area by area, item by item and put each item into the appropriate box. Take trash items to the garbage bin immediately. Box up the charity and/or garage sale items and deal with them as soon as you can. Take your misplaced things and put them in a central location. Don’t try to put them away at this point. If you want to be REALLY organized, sort them into boxes by the room they should go in.

Now, clean your room according to your level of clean and begin putting everything that belongs in this room where it should go. If it doesn’t have a place, find one that makes sense, probably where you are most likely to use it.

One room is finished! Go on to the next room in line of priority. Wash, rinse and repeat!

You can get clean and organized. It just takes time and persistence…and getting a little cooperation from your family, of course.

I must admit when Designer Shoe Warehouse first arrived in my city, I was ecstatic. Honestly, it’s the only store I enjoying taking my time and perusing every isle. Now, If you’ve never stepped foot inside DSW, you have to find one and visit. For those of us who wear size 11 an up, it’s almost a gold-mine. Certainly, there are other stores that carry gorgeous shoes in larger sizes for instance, Nordstrom’s, Bloomingdale’s, JC Penny’s, Parisians, Payless and the list goes on…

Now back to you first-timers, you have to have a strategy to navigate through this store. If you’ve taken any type of time-management classes, you’re ability to utilize what you’ve learned will come into play.

Here are just a few tips on making the best use of your time and finding a pair of shoes made just for you.

1. Wear shoes that you can easily slip on and off.

2. As soon as you walk into the store, scan the entire store.

3. Quickly put together a game plan. Should you start in the dress shoe isles? It’s up to you.

4. Grab one of their mesh shopping bags. It makes carrying your shoes a whole lot easier.

5. I’ve found that scanning the shoe boxes to locate my size saves me time and unnecessary disappointment. You don’t get caught up in falling in love with a pair of shoes that don’t come in your size.

6. Look at shoes on both sides of the isle, it saves time.

7. Once you’ve covered one isle and have selected a couple pairs of shoes, take a second to try them on. If they don’t work, simply put them back on the shelf. No since in dashing to the next isle with shoes that you don’t want.

8. Always remember to grab one of the stocking footies before trying on shoes.

Now that you have a few tips on getting the most out of your shopping experience, go hunting for your next pair of fabulous shoes.

We’ve all been to parties that have that certain something-special that makes them stand out in our memories as being truly fabulous. Of course, to have a great party, you need to start with great guests. Assuming you have that part covered, often it comes down to all of the little party details to really make a party special.

Here are a few fast but fabulous tips to put your parties on the map:

- Freeze strawberries or raspberries, then pop them into glasses of white wine or champagne for a dash of bling . The berries will kick it up a notch with a splash of color and class, and will inject an element of unexpected surprise.

- If the lavatory your guests will visit during the party has a bathtub, glam things up by filling the tub with water, then float the heads of oodles of large scented flowers in it. Roses, gerbera daisies, mums, and carnations are all good choices. The stunning visual impact of this will knock the socks of your guests - and the room will smell amazing.

- Pick up simple store-bought cakes at the local grocery, then give them the high-end, lavish look of expensive custom cakes by embellishing them with fresh, non-poisonous flowers such as roses, pansies, or naustrusium.

- To encourage mingling at a cocktail party, limit the number of seats so that guests don’t just plunk themselves down in one spot for the entire night. Some seating is, of course, necessary for those with weary feet, but there should be substantially fewer seats than guests if you want to keep things lively.

Everywhere I go I am bombarded with messages of blame. Who is to blame for the war? George Bush, of course. Oh, but wait, it’s the terrorists. Who is responsible for global warming? Why it’s those stupid republicans for not paying attention to the environment. No, no, it’s the capitalist businessmen, for continuing to develop the world for their own profit. Whose fault is that I got fired? It’s that idiot boss of mine.

When something goes wrong, our human brains are wired to look for someone or something to blame. Our mammalian ancestors have left us with a remnant of a brain wired to respond to problems by assigning blame. It’s a survival mechanism that allows us to ascertain where the problem for something lies and then we can figure out how to solve the problem based on who is to blame. It’s an automatic reaction. The caveman bumps into a tree, “Oh, bad tree. Must walk around next time.” “Oh, bad tiger ate my friend. Must find new way to river.”

Obviously I am over simplifying here, but you get the idea. By knowing what the cause of a problem is we have a better shot at solving it, and surviving it. The problem is that our old brain mechanism of looking for blame doesn’t help in our more complicated modern world. Yet it is so automatic that it has become an accepted part of our way of functioning in the world, in spite of the difficulties that it engenders.

What blame does is to assign all responsibility for something on to someone or something in order to meet our survival needs. We either absolve ourselves of all responsibility for something by blaming someone else, thereby perpetuating the belief that we are blameless and innocent. Or we assume all responsibility for something in order to reinforce the idea that we are shameful, and bad. How does the latter help us survive?

Well, if the alternative is to blame someone that we think is perfect or at least too good to blame, we get to hold on to the fantasy of that person’s perfection by blaming ourselves. And, if we have spent our entire lives believing that we are no good, then we have to continue to keep up the appearance that we are no good or we will shatter our view of the world and ourselves.

Blame sets the world up into neat categories. There is a Victim, a Villain and a Rescuer. It’s all predictable and easy to understand. We can feel powerful and in control when we understand who is to blame and who are the victims. It’s all black and white and tied up in a neat bow that everyone understands. We can all get on board with the Rescuer and feel sorry for the poor Victim. We can all gang up against the evil Villain and feel good about ourselves because we are not the Villain; we are the Rescuer or even the innocent Victim, but not the evildoer.

After 9/11 all of the United States needed someone to blame for the horror. We needed an enemy to fight because we all felt so wounded by the loss of the twin towers and the thousands they held inside. We all felt completely helpless and out of control. Finding someone to blame helped us to shore up a sense that we were not helpless and that we could fight back. Attributing the blame for 9/11 onto Bin Ladden gave us a tangible “evildoer” that we could fight. It was easy for us to line ourselves up against the wretched Suddam Hussein with little evidence because we still needed an enemy. Afghanistan was under control, though we have yet to capture Bin Ladden, we could re-focus on the real cause, Suddam. Our need to blame and fight our persecutors led us into an ill-conceived battle that will not end any time soon. Yet our instincts told us to find someone to blame and to fight the evildoer (Villain).

Today, few of us believe that blaming Suddam for the Twin Towers makes any sense. But at the time, it was what our country impulsively did to try to regain a sense of control. Blaming Suddam was easy, he was an evil man who had tortured and massacred thousands of people. But he was not responsible for our victimization. In our instinctive, reactionary need to find someone to blame, we attacked his regime.

Now we find ourselves blamed for the miserable conditions in Iraq and find that we have only really hurt ourselves and not done much to resolve the issues that led up to the tragedy of 9/11.

When we apply blame, the result is always the same, misery and pain. Blame sets up a situation in which there is no hope of escape. We blame someone and then they blame us for our reactions. Suddam was seen as to blame for our misery, and now the US is seen as being to blame for the nightmare of Iraq as it is today. Blame has no end. It’s like the gangsters shooting a gang member in retaliation for the murder of one of their gang. The cycle cannot stop until someone discovers and alternative reaction.

We are mammals, but we do not have to respond with our mammalian brain. We do have an evolved brain capable of higher order thinking. We can see beyond our instincts and choose to behave differently than our mammalian brain would have us. We can choose to learn to take ownership of whatever our part in a conflict may be, to respect the others involved, and to have empathy for the situation of other person. This requires thoughtful consideration and not reflexive action. This requires an understanding of how our defensive mechanisms can fool us into thinking that the only way to survive is with blame.

Glyconutritionals

Since glyconutrients are such a new discovery, and people are having such great results, a great deal of hype surrounds glyconutrients these days. It is not so uncommon to see the words miracle cure in connection with them, written by independent individuals meaning no harm. Allow me to investigate glyconutrients supplements, relating in plain English what glyconutrients are, what their function is in the body, and what part they play in having optimal health.

First off, glyconutrionals do not cure anything, nor do they mitigate or treat anything. Instead, they help the body to heal itself. Glyconutrients are not FDA Approved. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulates pharmaceutical drugs, and not natural supplements oBut rather than get into splitting hairs and reviewing misconceptions, I would rather define things and make this all seem more clear to you.

So, what are glyconutritionals (glyconutrients)?

Research as recent as within the past decade has shown that the cells in our body communicate and recognize each other through identifiers on the outside of the cells, made up of proteins and the glyconutrients. The terms ‘glyconutritionals’, ‘glyconutrient’, ‘glyconutrients’, ‘monosaccharide’, ‘biological sugars’ and ‘essential sugars’ can all be used to describe the eight vital nutrients that form the glycoproteins that line the outside of cells. Commercial uses of the term will usually just refer to particular blends of polysaccharides, dietary fiber compounds and plant extracts. I will not list the exact 8 glyconutrients here, but if you want that, then see my site listed below, or contact me through my site listed at the bottom of this article.

Polysaccharides are large carbohydrate molecules consisting of a number of monosaccharide monomers such as fructose, ribose and glucose. But of course, these are simply examples of sugar monomers and these are not what you will be getting in your glyconutrient supplement because fructose and ribose are not ‘essential sugars’ for cell-to-cell communication. The glyconutritional formulations were initially discovered by the Research and Development Corporation out of Texas that currently manufactures the only Advance Glyconutrients supplement with the proper eight glyconutrients or precursors. They have been marketed around the world by associates as having health benefits.

So how do you know which one to buy from? Find out if they are the original advanced glyconutrients.

Buyer Beware:

There are a number of other companies now supplying so-called or copy-cat glyconutritional products. Companies sell formulations of polysaccharides and sometimes even fiber as glyconutritionals, with varying constituents that have been previously used in health products, including: aloe vera extracts, arabinogalactan fraction of Larch extract, gum arabic and gum acacia, ghatti gum, gum tragacanth, kelp, cordyceps, xylitol, glucosamine, fenugreek seed, oat fiber, and Shiitake and Reishi mushroom. But manufacturing glyconutrients is not just ‘mixing a salad’ of nutrients. Don’t buy the product unless you are buying a correctly made supplement that has been made through science and research, and has been tested to work!

The beneficial actions of the arabinogalactans in glyconutritionals have been demonstrated as a prebiotic effect, a reduced incidence of opportunistic pathogens, stimulation of the body’s immune system, increased numbers of gut anaerobes and reduced levels of ammonia.

Medical sciences have noted that soluble fibers, including polysaccharides, are transformed into beneficial short-chain fatty acids after fermentation in the large intestine. Further, there are proven anti-inflammatory benefits with saccharides such as glucosamine and gum acacia, with trials showing beneficial effects for patients suffering from inflammation-related conditions like arthritis and asthma.

With these benefits, glyconutritional formulations are categorized as an alternative therapy. There are a lot of universities and elite research organizations that have started to publish articles and studies on glyconutrients and their health benefits on a cellular level.

Ultimately, the ingredients in glyconutritionals have been shown to have positive health benefits. Individuals are best advised to consult medical advice that can take into account personal health circumstances when considering the use of glyconutritionals.

Visit the site below to find out how glyconutrients can help you.

Spencer Hunt is a glyconutrients distributor who saw the products help his close family and friends improve their health, and then set out on a mission to help others to enjoy the health benefits of glyconutrionals. You can contact him through his site www.ifoundhealth.com http://www.ifoundhealth.com

It is clear from experience, as well as the vast amounts of information available to employers that the demographics of the global workforce are changing. Patterns of migration, issues of diversity and social or educational development are presenting employers the world over with an increasingly difficult and important challenge - where their talent will come from in the future.

An advantage in the recruitment market

In 2008 a large proportion of ‘baby boomers’ are set to retire, and according to large consultancies like Deloitte and BearingPoint, there will be fewer graduates with the right critical skills entering the market who can act as ready replacements for those skilled and experienced employees leaving the market. This ensures the war for talent continues to rage as companies compete for the right Human Capital asset to give them the advantage in their market.

In a bid to win the war for talent, companies are increasingly developing more creative employer brands, talent acquisition strategies and retention plans. They are looking at a broader spectrum of factors, other than just salary and security, to attract people into their business and to keep them there. Those entering the employment market are no longer looking for that ‘job for life’, nor are they necessarily motivated by pay alone. This places factors like Corporate and Social Responsibility, flexible working, personal development and total reward much higher up on the agenda.

Not bad for a McJob

One high profile example of a corporation tackling their employer brand head-on is McDonald’s, who rely on a steady supply of Human Capital to give their business and their brand life. After the term McJob appeared in the Oxford English Dictionary, being described as having low pay and poor prospects, McDonald’s responded in 2006 with the challenging Not bad for a McJob campaign.

The McDonald’s fight-back campaign featured posters including examples of health policies, flexible working hours and prospects for promotion, with the objective of improving their public image as an employer of choice and ensuring their employees felt McRespected and McValued .

McDonald’s represents an extreme example, but other companies across the world dedicate much time and resource to winning coveted places in top employer listings, such as the ‘Sunday Times Top 100 Companies to Work For’ in the UK and the ‘50 Best Employers to work for’ in Canada. And, according to Sheffield University, it’s a case of Who Cares Wins in today’s job market.

Now and into the future

Which organisations continue to win the war for talent will be based on many factors, and the demographics of the global work force aren’t going to stand still while businesses try and catch up. This makes having a transparent, consistent and strong employer brand essential, because it allows employers to align their talent acquisition and retention strategies to their corporate values. It also allows companies to project into the market a clear image of themselves, which a potential employee can buy-in to.

Whether it’s encouraging the aging workforce to remain motivated and continue working, whether it’s making the differentiation between themselves and the competition clearer to the smaller pool of Human Capital that do have the skills and abilities needed, or whether it’s continuing to drive a volume of employees into specific market sectors - strong recruitment campaigns, imaginative retention strategies, employee engagement initiatives, flexible benefits and work/life balance can be key ingredients in attracting and retaining talent now and into the future.

In order to conduct a successful book marketing campaign as a POD published author, you will need to understand the challenges that can hinder your success. If you are not aware of these challenges and try to blindly market your book, you will find yourself caught in the middle of a book marketing minefield - surrounded by landmines that can seriously limit your career as a published author. Once your book is released and you begin to market it, you will discover:

1. “Being available” means being buried among the thousands of books posted on the online bookstores and computer book ordering systems.

2. You are expected to be an expert on your topic and market your book without any help.

3. Hiring a book publicist is expensive and probably outside of your budget.

4. Your book will not be stocked in traditional bookstores due to your publisher’s no return and/or non-standard discount policies.

5. Many mainstream book reviewers have a policy against reviewing self-published or POD books, regardless of quality.

6. Your family and friends are your best customers when your book is released - then you struggle to sell additional copies.

7. If you do invest in a public relations campaign, you don’t sell many copies because:

a. Your book is “available” to be ordered but not in stock, or

b. You have to buy the books and offer them on consignment. There is little profit and you get stuck with the non-returnable unsold books.

8. You have little PR experience and are scared to death of calling the press to try and get coverage. You are also either a full-time parent or working a full-time job which hinders your ability to market your book - even if you knew how.

9. You build a free Website and try the free Internet marketing options. Your Website receives little, if any, traffic and you feel like your Website is about as effective as being buried in a dense rain forest.

10. You buy a few “Secrets” type books but the only ones making money are those that sold you the books.

11. You realize that there are no “secrets,” just skills that need to be learned and techniques that must be mastered. You are totally overwhelmed and feel that book marketing is a complex jigsaw puzzle.

12. You try talking to other authors in forums and groups and they’re equally confused, frustrated and demoralized.

Is there a way out of this book marketing minefield?

Now that your enthusiasm has been doused with cold water, you have two choices. You can continue to do more of the same and hope for a better outcome, or you can become an Authorpreneur.

What is an Authorpreneur?

Authorpreneurs do not compete using the traditional book marketing model. Instead, they view their books as products and effectively combine their writing skills with proven Internet Marketing techniques to accomplish better results. This allows them to become an expert within a niche, based upon their book’s theme. An Authorpreneur understands HOW to write effective Web content and use technology to generate:

• A consistent amount of laser targeted traffic

• The right kind of links to their Website to increase their search engine ranking

• A large worldwide subscriber list to brand themselves as experts

• Consistent book and niche product sales from their list

What about book promotion?

Authorpreneurs also use technology to level the playing field and gain a competitive advantage in gaining PR. They understand that:

• 98% of journalists go online daily
• 92% do it for article research
• 76% to find new sources and experts
• 73% to find press releases

By building a content-rich professional Website that achieves “top ten” search engine placement, Authorpreneur Websites are easily found by journalists and producers researching niche topics for their articles and programs.

This leads to interviews and media exposure for Authorpreneurs. Additionally, Authorpreneurs know where to find online media databases to quickly research a list of media contacts interested in their niche topics. Then by conducting targeted e-mail campaigns, they get added to many “expert contact lists” that gain them future interviews.

Additional benefits

Once Authorpreneurs establish an expert status with their subscriber list and generate steady sales, they use this track record to rise above the clutter to attract literary agents and mainstream publishers with a “ready to buy” market for their books. Their book proposals are also more credible because they are based upon the actual “wants” of their niche audience which substantiates the “need” for their book.

Conclusion

Most POD authors learn book marketing as they go and do not understand the power of leveraging technology to brand themselves as experts. This is usually a painful experience. However, by becoming an Authorpreneur, writers can gain a competitive advantage by combining their writing skills with sound Internet Marketing techniques to avoid the book marketing landmines that can seriously limit their writing careers.

EDC Gold sounds like the perfect business opportunity alright. Get paid 100% commission on EVERY sale, while you get the first two $997 sales from everybody you refer. EDC Gold sounds like one of the most lucrative ways to make money online and maybe even too good to be true!

Well it might be too good to be true because of the market saturation concern that is in most people’s minds. If EDC Gold is really one of the best ways to make money online, everybody would soon jump on this wonderful little business opportunity and the market will surely dry up leaving you nothing but a wallet that is $997 lighter.

I had this concern on my mind too and debated to myself whether or not EDC Gold is still a lucrative business opportunity to invest with. Fortunately I uncovered some revealing online statistics that will make you rethink about market saturation and how that is totally irrelevant. Okay, let’s begin.

It is estimated that EDC Gold currently has 15,000 members promoting the business opportunity. That is a lot of people promoting EDC Gold! How the heck can you compete with 15,000 people promoting the exact same product?

Well, here is a little secret, there are only an EXTREMELY small percentage of the 15,000 EDC Gold distributors that are actually doing the required steps to make money online! Most of these people do not take EDC Gold seriously. In other words, the vast majority just dabbles around and plays with EDC Gold.

Not convinced? Well, how about this? On a very conservative estimate, there are over one million searches done on the internet for home based business opportunity related keywords. That is over 33,333 searches made in a single day on the internet for home business opportunity related keywords.

What does that mean to you? Well, market saturation is totally irrelevant if you decide to promote EDC Gold. Still not convinced and you are stubborn as a mule about market saturation? Well, how about this.

There are over 10,000,000 clicks done on business opportunity related links done per month on the internet. That means 333,333 clicks PER DAY are being made on business opportunity related sites.

Now let’s recap what was just said. The vast majority of EDC Gold’s distributors are extremely lazy doing their promotions, while a million searches are done for business opportunity related keywords with over ten million clicks per month.

Think of this realistically. Since most people in EDC Gold are doing next to nothing with millions of people searching for ways to make money online, anybody that is thinking of joining EDC Gold can still capture just a small percentage of these people and make money on the internet.

You do the math on how much people you have to refer to EDC Gold at the $997 level to make money online. This should have given you a fresh new perspective on the reality of market saturation and installed in you some hope.

Alan Quan struggled with making money on the internet for a year losing more money than he was making. Luckily he found a system that allowed him to sell a high end product and make a full time income on the internet. Today, he has quit his job and is now PERSONALLY teaching regular people how to do the same.
Here’s a Proven Method to Target ‘Sales Skill Training’ to Resolve Sales Performance Issues

In Part 1, we went over the steps to uncover sales performance issues and decide which are applicable at a high priority for pin-point sales skill training. We first documented the main sales performance issues. There are (4) distinct sales performance silos that will effect the overall outcome of any sales team, year in and year out. They are:

% of Sales reps to Quota
Average New-hire Ramp-to-Quota in months
Sales Employee Turnover rate
Time spent versus Result achieved

Next we, listed (4) steps to find out if you have any sales performance issues in each individual sales performance silo and if so to what degree. They were:

Step 1: ‘Run the Numbers’ for any realistic ROI opportunity
Step 2: ‘Run the Numbers’ hypothetically for a ‘Specific’ improvement
Step 3: ‘Run the Numbers’ for a ‘Reality Check’
Step 4: Set the Goal and ‘Train to It’

In our first example, we looked at a sales organization’s performance silo of ‘New-hire Ramp-to-Quota and determined (1) a sales performance issue and (2) a worthy sales training objective and (3) a realistic sales training return on investment.

Let’s take that same sales force and utilizing our (4) step process look at the remaining two Sales performance issues; ‘Sales Employee Turnover rate’ and ‘Time spent versus Result achieved’ to see what the X2 Evaluator™ system turns up.

Step 1: ‘Run the Numbers’ for any realistic ROI opportunity

Our example sales force has 350 sales reps that are responsible for securing new business each month. They currently have a sales employee turnover rate of 45%, or 155 reps per year. I’ve found in the sales industries I partner with, my clients average between 30%-70% sales employee turnover per year, so these folks are right in norm.
But the ‘norm’ doesn’t have to be the ‘Future’.

Here’s another important point. In the sales arena, 95% of sales employee turnover is due to Low 1st appointment activity. And in our example sales force, it was nearly 100%. Simply, if you’re not creating enough sales appointments each month, you either go out the door or you are ‘Shown the door’.
Now let’s run the numbers to see exactly what this sales employee turnover is costing them and attach a weight of priority to consider ‘pin-point’ sales performance training.

Here are the numbers relevant to costs:

Average Salary: $30,000
Recruiting Costs: $ 2,000
Training Costs: $ 3,500
Monthly Sales Quota: $ 3,500

In sum, this sales management team is looking eye to eye to a total of $4,512,200 going out the door each year, a combination of revenue ramp up costs on the front end, revenue production loss on the back end, salaries and benefits, then again revenue ramp up costs and salary for the replacement new hire. It’s a vicious circle. And once again that total ‘Penalty cost’ number is an attention getter. Simply put, each sales rep going out the door, due to low sales appointment activity, is costing the company $29,300 of lost revenue.

Does that portray a legitimate sales training Return on investment opportunity? Well, in less you need to invest $29,300 per sales rep in the training of choice to remedy the sales performance issue… it certainly does.

Step 2: ‘Run the Numbers’ hypothetically for a 50% improvement

In this case, I showed the sales management team what return on investment they would get by retaining just half of the sales reps going out the door due to low sales appointment activity. Using their numbers my diagnostic system showed them a ROI of $2,256,100just by reducing their sales employee turnover due to low sales appointment activity from 44% down to 22%. That’s keeping 77 sales reps from going out the door and adding to the sales productivity pool.

Step 3: ‘Run the Numbers’ for a Reality Check

Remember in Part 1 of ‘Does Your Sales Training Program Address Your Sales Performance Issues?’ we ran this sales force team’s key sales performance indicator numbers in the X2 system to see ‘if and where’ there were leaks in the ‘KPI ship’. And we discovered not a leak, but a big ‘ole fire hose.

Two ‘KPI issues’ were apparent. First, their ramp-to-quota for a new-hire took 7 months when the average sales cycle is 17 days? Second, they were only setting 3 new appointments per week when they needed to set 6, based on their other KPIs and a subsequent sales appointment activity number. Thus, their sales appointment ‘activity barometer’ was only running at 50%. And that we determined dictates a longer ramp-to-quota.

Then we dug a bit deeper in the X2 system and out popped a 6% conversation-to-appointment ratio; they had to conduct 15 prospect conversations to get 1 new appointment.

We then asked the ‘Reality Check’ question. Is it realistic to focus on reducing the sales rep turnover due to low sales appointment activity in half, from 44% to 22% for a sales training ROI of $2,256,100or $29,300 per rep?

And we answered ‘yes’ if they addressed the front-end of their sales process; setting targeted sales appointments. Again as before, they needed to (1) establish an activity standard to reach quota based off of individual KPIs and (2) develop a sales prospecting methodology and supporting system to spend less time in achieving it.

Because most sales employee turnover happens in the new hire ramp-to-quota issue silo, the same pin-point sales skill training initiative kills two birds with one stone.

And if you add those (2) ’sales training initiatives birds’ up, it points to $14,532,100 of realistic revenue recovery.

Step 4: Set the Goal and ‘Train to It’

Reducing sales employee turnover due to low sales appointment activity now appears to be a worthy one. It makes good business sense for this sales organization. And if we measure our results, we will probably add some more revenue back on the table with additional reps not going out the door… to the tune of $29,300 per rep.

As in Part 1, our sales training goal in this case is to spend the least amount of time to get the desired number of sales appointments each week to assure our monthly success. Now as a side bonus, let’s take a look at our last sales performance issue silo, ‘Time spent versus Result achieved’, and see what, if anything, we can address related to our pin-point sales training initiative.

“Time is money”. What’s your ‘Hourly rate’? If you’re a sales rep with a W-2 goal of $100,000 your hourly rate is approximately $51 dollars an hour. Here’s an interesting statistic. My clients spend an average of 50% of their time on the very front-end of their sales process; sales prospecting for new opportunities to initiate their sales process. This sales management team gave me an average prospecting time of 45% to plug into the Evaluator™ system.

And here’s what it showed.

The sales reps were spending an average of 20 hours per week on sales prospecting and sales appointment generation. But they were only running at 50% on their ‘Activity Barometer’ and needed to generate 50% more sales appointment activity; going from 3 new appointments per week to 6. At their current sales prospecting efficiency rate of 6% (15 Prospect conversations to get 1 appointment) they would need to dedicate 33 hours per week to sales prospecting and sales appointment generation. And we know that’s not realistic.

But if they set a sales training objective of moving that appointment conversion ratio to 50%, they would not only meet their sales appointment activity number but save 26 hours per week, for a time recovery of 79%, from 33 hours per week to 7. And 26 hours times $51 per hour recovers $1326 ‘Hourly Rate’ money, allowing sales reps to increase capacity and pursue higher-value, solutions-based selling opportunities.

Once again with our last (2) sales performance issue silos we determined (1) a sales performance issue and (2) a worthy sales training objective and (3) a realistic sales training return on investment.

Ask any CFO what their first impression is when they hear the words ‘Sales Training’ and they might communicate back their ‘Real world’ vocabulary of ‘un-accountable’ and ‘un-measurable’. Simply put, they know they’re wasting at least half their sales training budget dollars; the problem is they don’t know which half.

As a sales management leader, methodically discovering sales issues first and then running ‘Quantitative’ sales performance numbers to check for feasibility, worthiness, and return on sales training investment will differentiate you from the pack. And you’ll stand an excellent chance of getting the result you want.

In this case, giving sales reps a skill-set to set 1 ‘Top-down’ business appointment in 2 conversations will allow participants to set the required amount of targeted business appointments to assure their monthly revenue goals. So less people will leave, they’ll make more money and spend less time and you will recover measurable dollars; something you can actually put your finger on.
